The Barge Classic

The Barge Classic is a concept I created from the ground up, built around the idea of hosting a global basketball tournament on massive barge stadiums in the Duluth harbor. I designed the event identity, the court layouts, the visual system, and every graphic element tied to the experience. I used AI to help create the realisitc photos, and bring this not as realistic event to life! The project explores how abstract forms, motion, and structure can define a brand without relying on traditional sports imagery. My goal was to build something ambitious, cinematic, and believable while trying out new styles.

The Barge Classic

The Barge Classic is a global basketball tournament played on custom-built barge stadiums in the Duluth harbor. The event brings together intense competition, a unique on-water atmosphere, and a fully designed fan experience. Four tug-barge courts host the early group-stage games, and the top teams advance to the main stadium barge for the playoff rounds. It’s a one-of-a-kind setting that turns the harbor into a floating arena.

Tournament Breakdown

Thirty-two countries qualify for the Barge Classic. The tournament starts with eight groups of four, spread across four smaller barge courts placed together in the harbor so fans can ferry between games. The top sixteen teams move on to the main stadium barge, where the competition tightens and the environment gets louder and more intense. Every game is played on regulation courts built into the tug-style barges, creating a setup that feels fresh but still grounded in real basketball.

How to experience

Tickets for the Barge Classic can be reserved through the event site (the button below). Fans travel to the courts by scheduled ferries, and all games take place in the Duluth harbor during mid-summer. Single-day passes, group-stage access, and playoff packages are available. Full schedules, team info, and ferry times are updated in real time, making it easy to plan your day on the water and experience basketball in a way you won’t get anywhere else.
