The Importance of Being Consistent

ISO Labs are made to help support and teach players how to grow as individuals.

Benefits in sports

Being consistent in training is one of the best ways to become the best version of yourself. Studys show having a consistent strict schedule when excersizing is more effective than doing it "when I can". More studies have shown that consistently training at a moderate level for a set amount of time is more beneficial than training with high intensity for varying amounts of time.

Overtime training on a consistent schedule will directly improve ones skill level. This has been measured by the best performers including the greatest shooter of all time Stephen Curry who said "I've always believed that success for anyone is all about drive, dedication, and desire..."

How to Counter Setbacks

One of the main issues with staying consistant is having set backs. Set backs are bound to happen, they come in all sorts of ways some are controlable while others arent. What one can control is how they react to these setbacks. One of the biggest setbacks that people face is not having "enough movitivation". It has been scientifically proven that if a person pushes through being too tired or not having enough motivation that it gets easier over time. It is training ones mind to fight through the feeling of laying around. Vs if one decides to take that break it trains the brain to want to lay around more, to not fight through, and to take a break.

If one does take a break, or a day off of a scheduled training day it is important that they get back on track as soon as possible after. Life is unpredicable and will have its set backs, its important that one gets back up and keeps going.

Benefits in life

Being consistent is not only useful for sports but it is crucial to ones day to day life. It sets a standard for each individual to live up to. It also builds healthy habbits such as cleaning the room or brushing your teeth.

This can also be seen in work and school. Just like anything else in life you will have ups and downs. As long as you stay consistent and make sure to power through when its hard it eventually becomes easier.

It is crucial to build these habbits, not only be succesful with your goals in life, but to be healthy physically and mentally.

What to look out for

Anxiety
Anxiety is very prominant in athletes and can come in many ways. Overworking yourself and setting unrealistic expectations can be major factors. It is important to remind yourself that is is normal and it is okay to have anxiety.

Burnout
Burnout can come from many different factors just like anxiety. It is important that you are getting enough rest and giving yourself time to recover after each workout. A great way to do this is building in days off and planning out your recovery in your schedule.

Tips

Schedule it

Be realistic

Change is okay

Making a strict schedule is the best way to go about becoming consistent. Making it is only part one, sticking to it is part two. Many people say "treat it like a job". Something you cant skip unless you really need to.

Start small, slowly grow your workouts throughout your schedule. That doesnt mean each day has to be harder, each week should be tailored to what you need and where you are currently at. Starting too fast and intense is one of the top reasons people do not stick to their schedules.

Everyone is unique in their own ways, if you hate your schedule then you should proabably change it. It may take some time to find it there is no need to rush it. Lastly but most importantly prioritize your mental health over anything else.
